Long tour

By: Stephanie Martinez

Here at Great Lakes Adventist Academy, we have so many opportunities for outreach, including our Long Tour. Every year in April, our music groups and Aerokahnas gymnastics team travel to public schools and churches to perform and witness to a variety of audiences. It’s always a great experience when we have opportunities to show people what God has done for us, and that’s something these students get to do when they go on tour. Our Aerokhanas performed all over Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and our Music Department traveled through the northern Lower Peninsula. Today you’ll read about students and their first-hand experiences during Long Tour.

Maggi is in our select choir also known as the Chambers, and she said she loved the trip. Although she boarded the bus feeling a little negative about not being with all of her friends from Aeros, Maggi says it was so much fun to be with her music friends. Her favorite part was going to the playground and traveling through Traverse City.

Jenna is a gymnast on our Aerokhanas team, and she says the trip was a huge blessing. Her favorite part was traveling from school to school to perform gymnastics routines and teach about team work and healthy living. She also loved being part of the Friday evening play, Your Great Love. Jenna loves seeing the joy people experience after they see the story of Jesus reenacted.

Natalia is in the strings program and she absolutely loved going to Camp Au Sable and hanging out with her friends. She appreciates that she can hang around people who have similar beliefs. Her favorite part was just being around nature and her friends, the best mix.

Logan is in the orchestra and has a big love for hanging around his classmates. His favorite part was the Traverse City food and enjoying it with the people he loves. There’s nothing better than food and friends.

Aidan is a gymnast and he was quick to respond with positive comments about the tour. He loved seeing little kids get so excited at their performances, especially when they would try to recreate their moves. Aidan says overall it was an amazing time and he can’t wait for next year’s tour.
