We’re a whole month into the new year! This year, I want to make it more of a habit to actively think about the blessings God gives me everyday. When I look back on my years, I never say, “I wish I would have gotten better grades.” or, “I wish I would have slept more.” But I always say “I wish I would have spent more time with my Savior.” Last year, our seniors’ motto was “We have nothing to fear for the future unless we forget how God has led us in the past.” I feel like this is definitely important when gazing into our past while also optimistically looking toward the future, with God at the center of our life.
Many of us made New Year’s resolutions. Many of them have fallen to the wayside, or maybe you’ve stayed strong. A new diet, signing up for a gym subscription, or maybe wanting to be nicer to your loud neighbor. Whatever it may be, did God make it on your list of resolutions?
Maybe you didn’t make God a priority on your list of goals this year, but it’s not too late. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!” I want to use this verse as my foundation throughout the year. The weight of our ambition seems to fall away with the passing weeks. Even though our diets and small ambitions fall to the wayside we should always stay steadfast in our relationship with Christ. Every day we can wake up and say, “The old is gone, the new is here!”
How do you plan on keeping God at the center of your life this year?
